About Me

I'm a creative and resourceful print and online editor with strong commercial instincts and management skills. I thrive on developing original ideas and producing accurate, engaging copy to suit any audience.

Here's a summary of my career to date...

April 2010 - present
Editor and writer

I work as a freelance senior editor – commissioning and writing features, interviewing, editing copy, proofing pages and signing off layouts – most recently at Star and OK! magazines, and previously at Reveal, Look and more! magazines. I also write health, parenting and celebrity features for a variety of magazines and websites, and offer editing and proofing services for B2B publications, including the staff magazine – Inside Out – for a London-based housing trust called Circle Housing. Recent online projects include helping to refresh teen website faceup.ie.

April 2006 - April 2014
Associate Editor, Face Up Magazine
I acted as a freelance editorial consultant for this Irish teen magazine, editing, subbing and proofing articles, as well as writing features (on topics from stress-busting advice and alcohol addiction to student success stories and style gossip). I still edit articles for the company’s sister publication, Reality magazine and a range of their booklets too.

April 2002 - April 2006
Editor, Sneak Magazine
I led a 17-strong team to produce the UK’s must-have gossip, style and real life teen weekly. Sneak became well known for its celebrity exclusives, cheeky editorial style, stand-out photo shoots and sensitive coverage of topical teen issues.

May 1999 - April 2002
Freelance journalist

I contributed to various national publications including Hotstars, J17 and OK! magazine. I conducted interviews for The Westlife Story documentary and was hired by Reuters as a reporter on the Backstreet Boys’ 1999 promo trip (five continents in four days).

May 1999 - December 2001
Editor, Worldpop.com
I helped launch this pioneering music website – sponsors of the official UK charts – and managed a busy editorial team, producing daily music news, interviews and reviews. I also co-produced a weekly news package for the Saturday morning ITV show CD:UK.

September 1995 - May 1999
Deputy Editor, Top Of The Pops Magazine
and Live & Kicking Magazine, BBC Worldwide

I proved my flair and instinct for securing exclusives, conducting probing interviews, developing innovative features and writing lively copy.

June 1993 - September 1995
Assistant Editor, OSM Publications

My role at this Bristol-based family what’s-on guide (now Primary Times) was to deputise for the editor and coordinate all aspects of the business, including production and sales. I also helped launch franchises across the UK.
